WP Hosting Benchmarks is a part of Review Signal LLC, which is the largest web hosting review site that collects and analyzes social media opinions about web hosting companies.

The original benchmark was published in March 2014. The goal was performing unbiased, data driven performance tests how well different WordPress specialized hosting companies could handle a lot of traffic. These benchmarks have been run 8 times since then on a near annual basis. The tools used to benchmark companies have slowly evolved and more tests have been added over the years as customers’ expectations and needs have evolved. In 2020, the first new category was added: WooCommerce after many years of users asking for specific benchmarks around their e-commerce sites’ performance questions.

The benchmark’s core is still testing performance, but there’s also non-award impacting measurements around security and global performance.
